Spanberger Joins Lawmakers, Business Leaders at Virginia FREE Luncheon, Discusses Strengthening Virginia’s Economy

Governor-Elect Spanberger: “As Governor, I Will Do Everything in My Power To Provide What the Federal Government Is Failing To Provide: Stability and Predictability”

Virginia FREE Presented Spanberger with the “Jackie Stone Award” for Her Advocacy on Behalf of Virginia’s Business Community

RICHMOND, Va. — Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger today joined lawmakers and business leaders from across Virginia at the 17th annual Virginia FREE luncheon.

During the event, Spanberger outlined how her administration will work tirelessly to strengthen Virginia’s economy — including investing in public education, protecting a stable business environment, and working to lower costs for Virginians across the Commonwealth. Following her remarks, Virginia FREE presented her with the Jackie Stone Award in recognition of the Governor-elect’s advocacy on behalf of Virginia businesses.

“As Governor, I will do everything in my power to provide what the federal government is failing to provide: stability and predictability,” said Spanberger.

Spanberger also made clear that her administration will prioritize making sure Virginia is the best place to both work and start a business.

“I know there are some who think that we have to choose between being pro-business or pro-worker and I reject that binary choice,” said Spanberger. “Virginia’s economic success comes from our ability to recognize that it is our workforce — it is our fellow Virginians — that drive our economy. And under the right leadership and with intentionality, we will continue to ensure Virginia is an essential place for business and a place where we recognize the value of every single Virginian that works hard every day.”

“I know that Virginia can demonstrate leadership — certainly nationally and on a global stage — particularly at these uncertain times,” continued Spanberger. “And I want to work together to make sure that every Virginian no matter the zip code, no matter the community, can have the opportunity to thrive in this economy and build whatever future they may want for their family.”
